AmTrust Financial Services has a new Group chief Underwriting Officer. Chubb appointed an executive to lead the financial lines arm of its Overseas General Insurance division. A former Chubb executive joined Everest Re Group, Ltd.’s Specialty Casualty Team within the E&S Casualty unit.

J. Daniel Hickey is the new Group Chief Underwriting Officer at AmTrust Financial Services, Inc.

Hickey joined AmTrust in July 2017 as Executive Vice President, Business Strategy and Business Development. Over the past year, Hickey has overseen the Company’s business strategy planning function, and been responsible for AmTrust’s business development, identifying and managing key partner relationships, as well as organic business opportunities available to AmTrust throughout its global business platform.

In his new role, Dan will oversee the Company’s global underwriting activities, ensuring a consistent and disciplined underwriting approach that is aligned with the Company’s strategic objectives.

Before AmTrust, Hickey was at PartnerRe as Executive Vice President and Head of the Standard Lines business unit, where he had executive leadership, strategic planning and underwriting responsibilities for the unit. Previous to PartnerRe, Hickey was at General Reinsurance Corporation, most recently in the role of President – North America Treaty Reinsurance.

Hickey is based at AmTrust’s New York City headquarters and reports directly to Barry Zyskind, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of AmTrust.

Chubb named Steven F. Goldman Executive Vice President, Financial Lines for Overseas General Insurance, effective July 1.

The unit encompasses Chubb’s international general insurance business in 51 countries. In his new role, Goldman will oversee Chubb’s international financial lines division including directors and officers liability, financial institutions, errors and omissions, transactional risk and cyber risk businesses. Goldman will be based in New York and report to Timothy O’Donnell, who was recently promoted to Vice President, Chubb Group and Division President, Commercial Property & Casualty, Overseas General Insurance.

Currently, Goldman is Executive Vice President of Chubb’s Financial Lines division in the U.S. where he leads the Retail Financial Institutions segment. Goldman, an insurance industry veteran of nearly 20 years with a focus on underwriting and risk management, also leads Chubb’s Transactional Risk business, a division he helped create and has led since its inception.

Succeeding Goldman is Michael Mollica, who has been named Executive Vice President of Financial Lines, North America. Mollica has more than 20 years of industry experience. He will be based in New York and report to Scott Meyer, Division President, Financial Lines, North America.

A former Chubb executive has joined Everest Re Group, Ltd.’s Specialty Casualty Team within the E&S Casualty unit.

Eric Koppang‘s title is Vice President and Head of E & S Casualty, and he’ll be based out of the Everest Insurance Chicago office, reporting to Connie Germano, head of Specialty Casualty.

Koppang will be responsible for developing new products, product enhancements, and helping lead the continued expansion of the E & S primary casualty unit in the wholesale space.

Koppang has 30 years of insurance industry experience, including 23 years in the E & S Casualty space. Before joining Everest Insurance, Koppang was at Chubb, where he led the Westchester E & S Casualty group as Senior Vice President. He established Westchester’s Chicago office where he managed the E&S Primary and Excess Casualty groups for the Midwest, and was named the Construction Practice Leader.
