Executive Summary

Keeping good talent within AXA XL is one of the considerations that Donna Nadeau, the new CUO of the Americas, had in mind when she crafted a plan to restructure, honoring a personal commitment to offer opportunities to others similar to those she had throughout her career.

While that may seem like a natural extension of a reorganization effort spearheaded by AXA XL’s new chief executive officer, Scott Gunter, which won her the new job in the first place, there’s more to it than that.

“I feel really passionate about moving people throughout the organization and across the organization,” Nadeau told Carrier Management. “I’ve been given opportunities even though I might not have [had] perfect experience” for leadership positions, she said, referring to the fact that her own career trajectory took her from early jobs as an actuary for Liberty Mutual and Kemper to leadership roles as vice president, as chief pricing actuary and then as chief operating officer for AXA XL in North America before the CUO, Americas position. “I’m committed to doing the same thing in my own organization. I want to give people broad experiences,” she said.
