The number of flooded cars back on the road increased 6 percent over last year, according to a new report by Carfax.
Already in 2025, there are an estimated 482,000 flood-damaged vehicles still in use, an increase over the 454,000 on the road in 2024.

- Houston, Texas — 30,600
- Tampa/St. Pete — 29,900
- Miami/Fort Lauderdale — 25,300
- New York — 24,200
- Philadelphia — 19,100
- Lexington — 13,400
- Dallas/Fort Worth — 12,000
- Chicago — 10,300
- Louisville — 9,500
- Los Angeles — 9,100
Flooded cars often show signs of damage. These include visual signs like corroded metal, warped or rusted brakes and rotors, and muddy seats. Other signs may consist of a musty odor, computer or warning light malfunctions.
