ClimateTech Reask, a science and technology company focusing on natural hazard modelling, has agreed to a partnership with InsurTech managing general agency, Kettle, that will enable Kettle to offer location-level, wind speed-based parametric hurricane reinsurance in the U.S.

Reask delivers global tropical cyclone models to clients such as Swiss Re, AXA, parametric insurer Descartes, and ILS firms Securis and Twelve Capital. Kettle initially specialized in pricing, underwriting, and reinsuring of wildfire risks in the U.S.

This new partnership allows Kettle to expand its climate-related offering to include parametric hurricane reinsurance by leveraging Reask’s hurricane modeling product, Metryc. The data supplied by Reask will help Kettle to calculate premiums more accurately, as well as enable it to settle pay-outs within 24 hours of an event, according to a Reask press release.

Blink Parametric announced its partnership with CPP Italy and Europ Assistance Italy, an insurance company in the private assistance sector, with the launch of a real-time flight delay insurance service to serve the Italian market.

Headquartered in Milan, Italy, Europ Assistance Italy has been operating for more than 50 years as part of the Europ Assistance Group. This latest initiative will see the Irish InsurTech’s flagship flight disruption solution made accessible within the Italian market for the first time.

To avail of the benefit, any insured traveler registers their flight schedule, which is automatically monitored in real-time. When an eligible delay or cancellation occurs on an outward, connecting or return flight, the insurance pay-out or airport lounge pass is issued automatically through the traveler’s smartphone.
