Chubb’s reinsurance arm named a new division president. W.R. Berkley appointed a new leader for its Lloyd’s managing agent. Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance promoted an executive to lead its property business in Spain. Cape Analytics promoted three executives to new roles as it expands its team and operations.

Chubb Tempest Re – Chubb’s reinsurance arm – named Sam Peters as Division President of Chubb Tempest Re Bermuda.

Currently, Peters is Chief Actuary for both this business and for Chubb Bermuda, which provides excess casualty, professional liability and property products. In his new role, Peters will have management responsibility for Chubb Tempest Re Bermuda and the property catastrophe reinsurance products and services it provides to primary carrier clients around the world. The appointment, which is expected to be effective on March 1, is subject to approval by the Bermuda Department of Immigration. He will continue to be based in Hamilton, Bermuda.

Peters has 18 years of insurance industry experience. He joined Chubb in 2006 and has held a series of roles with increasing responsibility in the actuarial department. Before Chubb, Peters was an actuarial analyst with Amica Mutual Insurance.

W.R. Berkley Corp. appointed David Brosnan as chief executive officer of W. R. Berkley Syndicate Management Limited, the Lloyd’s managing agent for W. R. Berkley Syndicate 1967.

Brosnan succeeds Alastair Blades, who will continue in his role as chief underwriting officer. The appointment is subject to required regulatory approvals, including Lloyd’s.

Brosnan has 35 years of insurance industry experience, having served in various executive leadership roles at a number of global insurance organizations. He most recently served as chief executive officer of the international division of CNA Hardy in London.

Blades, who has nearly 35 years of experience in the insurance industry, joined Berkley in 2009 to lead the underwriting strategy for the newly formed W. R Berkley Syndicate 1967. He successfully led the team at W / R / B Underwriting through the transition from a London Market insurer with a Lloyd’s presence to a Lloyd’s centric business that was well positioned for Brexit.

Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance (BHSI) promoted Tomas Blas to Head of Property, Spain.

Blas, who has 17 years of industry experience, joined BHSI in 2019 as Head of Technical Lines in Spain. In his new role, he will be responsible for BHSI’s entire property lines portfolio in Spain, which includes corporate business property insurance for all industries and technical insurance solutions focused on construction, power, energy and engineering risks.

Before BHSI, Blas was Regional Head of Engineering Lines, Mediterranean Region, at Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty (AGCS), and Head of Engineering Lines for Spain & Portugal and Global Practice Group Leader of Utilities, Services, IT & Communications, at AGCS.

Cape Analytics promoted three executives to new roles as it expands its team and operations.

Busy Cummings, formerly VP of Sales and Customer Success, is now Chief Revenue Officer. As Chief Revenue Officer, Cummings will be leading new customer acquisition across insurance and real estate markets. He will also be responsible for customer onboarding, adoption, retention, and growth across segments. Cummings has over 20 years of experience in the insurance industry, spending time on both the carrier side with AIG, as well as the technology side leading DocuSign’s Commercial Insurance & Financial Services team. Busy will continue to play drums for Raise The Roof, the Cape Analytics band, in his new role.

Sheetanshu Pandey, previously VP of Engineering, will expand his role as Chief Technology Officer. Pandey will drive the technical roadmap and technology portfolio at Cape and maintain its pioneering innovation in geospatial AI. Specifically, he’ll oversee research and development and ensure Cape’s data infrastructure can continue to support enterprise-ready scale, speed, throughput, and uptime. The veteran Silicon Valley Technology leader previously held roles as VP of Engineering at Bidgely and CTO at Upwork. As founding band member, Sheetanshu will also continue to lead Raise The Roof as a guitarist.

Alex Baroiant, previously VP of Finance and Operations, will be Chief Financial Officer. Baroiant will oversee the accounting, corporate finance, treasury, investor relations, and human resources at Cape Analytics. Before joining Cape, Baroiant was Corporate Controller at Guardian Analytics, a fraud analytics AI startup serving the banking industry. As part of his expanded role, he will continue to play guitar for Raise The Roof.
