Hamilton Insurance Group hired an executive to fill a new position focused on expanding its U.S. Specialty insurance business reach. Great American promoted an executive within its bond division.

Hamilton Insurance Group appointed Clay Rhoades as President, Hamilton Managing General Agency Americas LLC.

Rhoades will report to Hamilton CEO Pina Albo in this newly created position and will be a member of her Group Executive Team. He will focus on the further expansion of Hamilton’s U.S. specialty insurance businesses written across its group platforms. Hamilton said his appointment reinforces the insurer’s commitment to the U.S. Specialty Insurance market as it continues to build a global specialty insurance and reinsurance organization.

Rhoades comes to Hamilton most recently from Kinsale Insurance where he was SVP of Commercial Property/Inland Marine. Before that he was SVP of Kinsale’s Professional Liability, Management Liability and Public Entity segment. Rhoades also spent several years in increasingly senior positions at Argo Group, profitably developing a number of specialty lines of business.

Kenneth Bearley has been promoted to Divisional President within Great American’s Property & Casualty Group’s Bond Division.

Bearley joined Great American in 1994 as an underwriter in the Bond Division’s Pittsburgh office. He became a Bond Manager and then Director before transferring to Cincinnati and has served in various leadership roles with increasing responsibility. In his most recent role as Divisional Executive Vice President, he oversaw all contract surety business written in the United States and Europe.

Bearley earned a bachelor’s degree in finance from the University of Central Florida and a master of business administration (MBA) from Queens University of Charlotte.
