John Cholnoky will retire as president of General Reinsurance Corp. during the first quarter of next year, the Stamford, Conn.-based reinsurer said.
The company, which is owned by Berkshire Hathaway Co., also announced that the new president will be A. Morris Tooker. He will be responsible for direct property/casualty reinsurance business globally.
Cholnoky has been president since 2008. Gen Re Chairman, President and CEO Tad Montross credited Cholnoky in his 30-year career with helping to shape the company through “his commitment to underwriting discipline and building client relationships” in a statement.
Tooker was promoted to executive vice president of General Reinsurance and Global Head of Property/Casualty Treaty business two years ago.
Montross said in his statement that Tooker’s “leadership, client focus and global business knowledge are the right combination to continue to build the direct Property/Casualty reinsurance model.”
