The Navigators Group, an international specialty insurer and reinsurer, named a new leadership team in Asia – all Chubb veterans. The team includes:

  • Jonathan Doherty, named as managing director of Asia. Doherty has more than 30 years of experience. He is also a 20-year Chubb veteran and most recently served as its strategic marketing manager for the Asia-Pacific zone.
  • Sang Kyoun (S.K.) Kim, the new chief underwriting officer. He is a 25-year insurance industry veteran, most of which was spent at Chubb, most recently as its Korea branch deputy representative.
  • Paul D’Souza, appointed as chief operating officer/chief financial officer for the region. D’Souza was previously senior vice president and chief financial officer, Asia-Pacific Zone, for Chubb.

Choi Moon Kee is the new director of marine & client relationship management for the Singapore branch of GreatAmerican logoGreat American Insurance Company, the flagship insurer for Great American Insurance Group.

In his new role, he will handle strategic management of marine underwriting and portfolio management within Asia. Also, he’ll assist the CEO of Great American’s Singapore branch in helping the business grow in Asia.

He has more than 20 years of experience within the marine insurance sector in Korea, having handled management, insurance underwriting and claims specializing in cargo/hull as well as casualty and engineering.

Previously, Choi was head of marine & channel management with ACE American Fire & Marine Insurance Company in Korea.

Layla Gretok

Starr Companies promoted Layla Gretok, a vice president at the firm, to lead its newly formed excess casualty division, which combines the excess commercial accounts and excess national accounts units.

A number of zonal underwriting managers have also been appointed to provide broker partners and clients local, senior-level access. They include: Warren Puffer, New York Zone; David Meyers, Eastern Zone; Laurie Jo Prager, Central Zone; and Leonard Streeter, Western Zone. All changes are effective Jan. 1, 2017.
