Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty promoted two executives. CNA appointed someone to lead efforts involving Commercial Underwriting for Errors & Omissions, Cyber and Media. SCOR made four new executive appointments. Willis Towers Watson named one of its veteran executives to a key role. Marsh & McLennan appointed a new general counsel for a division that includes Guy Carpenter.

Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty made Henning Haagen its new Northeast Zone executive for North America in addition to his current role as Global Head of Aviation.

Vinko Markovina previously held the Northeast Zone executive position, and he’s been promoted to global head of MidCorp and Regional Head of Corporate Underwriting.

Both men are based in New York; they’ll report to Bill Scaldaferri, AGCS North America President /CEO.

Haagen’s tasks will be to lead and execute local business strategies, plans and change initiatives. He’s been with Allianz since 2008 and has held a number of global leadership positions with the company since that time.

Markovina’s new position will give him responsibility for AGCS’s global MidCorp portfolio, which includes Package and Small Business, Middle Market programs, Farm and Ranch, and Highly Protected Risk Property business. In Corporate underwriting role, Markovina will oversee North American underwriting lines including Corporate Property, Liability, Financial Lines and Engineering.

Markovina is a 14-year Allianz veteran, and has held a number of leadership roles with the company during that time.

CNA appointed Andy Lea as vice president, Commercial Underwriting for Errors & Omissions, Cyber and Media, in the company’s Commercial unit.

Lea will be tasked with managing the strategic direction of CNA’s Commercial E&O suite and Enterprise Cyber products. He’ll report to Katie Wilson, vice president, Commercial Underwriting for General Liability, E&O and Cyber.

Lea has more than 20 years of industry experience. He was most recently AIG’s senior vice president, Midwest Professional Liability Manger in the company’s Financial Lines division.

SCOR has made the following executive appointments:

  • Paul Christoff, as managing director of the Americas Hub. He will report to Romain Launay, Group Chief Operating Officer. Christoff will keep his existing responsibilities as chief financial officer of the Americas Hub.
  • Eric Pooi, as managing director of the Asia-Pacific Hub, replacing Ben Ho, who was named advisor to the managing director of the Asia-Pacific Hub. Pooi is currently chief operating officer of the Life division for Asia Pacific. In his new role, he’ll report to Launay.
  • Marc Philippe, is SCOR’s new chief information officer, moving up from his current role as deputy chief information officer. He replaces Régis Delayat, who has been appointed Digital Advisor to the Chairman. Romain Portelli, currently in charge of information systems at SCOR Global P&C, is appointed deputy chief information officer, in charge of the functional scope of the Group’s information technology. Philippe will report to Launay.
  • Guillaume Ominetti, currently head of capital shield strategy within the Group Risk Management department, is appointed advisor to the chairman and head of Public Affairs.

Willis Towers Watson named Mike Liss as head of its Corporate Risk and Broking business in North America.

Liss will be tasked with business growth and strategy, with a goal of consolidating Willis Towers Watson’s position in the U.S. mid-market while expanding its offering to multinationals. He’ll report to Joe Gunn, head of North America, and Todd Jones, global head of CRB.

Liss has been with Willis Towers Watson since May 2006 and most recently served as its Midwest leader. He’ll still keep those responsibilities until a successor is named. Before Willis Towers Watson, Liss held various leadership roles at Wachovia, J&H Marsh, Kemper, AIG and Hartford.

Susan Stone is Marsh & McLennan Companies’ new general counsel for its Risk and Insurance Services Segment, which includes Marsh and Guy Carpenter.

Stone takes on her new role as of Feb. 15, 2017. She’ll report to Peter Zaffino, chairman of Risk and Insurance Services, and to Peter Beshar, executive vice president and general counsel of Marsh & McLennan Companies. Stone will be based in New York.

Stone succeeds James McNasby, who has been general counsel of Marsh since 2007, and general counsel of Risk and Insurance Services since 2015. (McNasby has moved onto a business role within Marsh).

Stone joins Marsh & McLennan from the law firm Sidley Austin LP, where she worked for 21 years and served as a member of its executive committee. Stone was also the firm’s co-head of its insurance practice.
