XL Catlin promoted a veteran executive to lead its Multinational Casualty Insurance segment. A Willis Re exec has moved up the ranks to become global deputy CEO.

XL Catlin appointed James Barbuti to lead its Multinational Casualty Insurance segment, which is part of the insurer’s Global Risk Management Division.
Barbuti will be based in New York and report to Ken Riegler, president of XL Catlin Global Risk Management.
Barbuti has been with XL Catlin since 2012, when he became senior vice president, zonal manager for the insurer’s Risk Management business in the Eastern U.S. He also has prior experience with ACE (now part of Chubb) and has more than 30 years of risk management experience with insurance carriers and brokers alike.

Willis Re promoted James Kent to the position of global deputy CEO, effective immediately.
Most recently, Kent has been co-president of Willis Re and president of Willis Re North America. He’ll keep the latter position and continue to be based in New York, along with Willis Re North America CEO Jim Bradshaw.
Kent will be tasked with driving sales and growth efforts, producing business, and maintaining market and client relationships in the region. Also, he’ll work with Global CEO John Cavanagh and Global Chairman Paddy Jago to lead global business production, client and market relationship management and to drive business operations around the world.
