Infinity Property and Casualty Corp. appointed Robert Bateman as its new executive vice president and chief financial officer.

Bateman starts his new position on Oct. 19. He replaces Roger Smith, who retired on Aug. 31.

Bateman most recently served as executive vice president and chief financial officer of COUNTRY Financial, where he helped shape strategic and business planning, including M&A activities, enterprise risk management, reinsurance, reporting, actuarial and investments, and treasury management.

Bateman also has previous executive experience with Hartford Financial Services and KPMG.

Infinity sells personal automobile insurance nationally, with a focus on nonstandard auto insurance.

Endurance Specialty Holdings Ltd. named an AXIS Capital veteran as its new chief risk officer.

Christopher Gallagher will also be group actuary, and his promotion in both slots is effective Sept. 21. He’ll be taking over corporate risk management functions from Joan deLemps, who plans to retire by the end of 2015.

Gallagher was most recently chief risk officer for AXIS Insurance, and had served in that role since 2007 managing their risk, actuarial and catastrophe modeling functions globally. Before that, he held was a London-based senior manager for many years with Ernst & Young LLP going back to 2001, where he was a leader in their insurance and actuarial advisory practice.

Gallagher’s appointment at the Bermuda-based specialty provider of property/casualty insurance and reinsurance, is subject to approval of the Bermuda Department of Immigration.

Marsh & McLennan hired on Mark McGivney as its new chief financial officer, and he’ll assume his new role on Jan. 1, 2016.

McGivney replaces J. Michael Bischoff, who is retiring after serving in the CFO slot since September 2012. Before his promotion, McGivney was most recently senior vice president of corporate finance for Marsh & McLennan. He also served as CFO and COO of Mercer, from 2011 to 2014, and was CFO of Marsh from 2007 to 2011.

Marsh & McLennan is a global professional services firm that gives advice and consulting in areas of risk, strategy and people. Its divisions include Marsh, an insurance broker and risk management outfit; Guy Carpenter, an operation that offers risk and reinsurance intermediary services; and Mercer, which offers services in areas including employee talent, health, retirement and investment consulting. Division Oliver Wyman is a management consulting operation.
