Zurich Insurance Group is bringing in a new CEO to run its general insurance division.

Kristof Terryn, currently CEO of Zurich’s global life arm, will officially take over his new role on Oct. 1, 2015. He replaces Mike Kerner, who is stepping down for personal reasons and will leave Zurich at the end of the year. In the interim, Terryn will still run the global life business until Zurich can name a replacement.

Terryn first joined Zurich in 2004 and has held a variety of executive roles with the company since then. Before Zurich, Terryn developed his experience in the financial services industry, initially in banking, where he worked in capital markets.

Kerner, meanwhile, is stepping down after 23 years with Zurich.

European insurer Generali Group hired Bruce Hodges as group head of information systems.

The Trieste, Italy-based company said he’ll start his new position on Oct. 1. Hodges will oversee Generali’s global IT systems and application landscape, with a focus on modernizing IT systems that impact clients, distributors and employees every day.

Hodge’s previous experience includes executive positions at NN Group, Sun Life Financial and Manulife Financial. He’ll replace Massimo Paltrinieri, who is pursuing other opportunities outside Generali, according to the company.

Hiscox Logo Small GlobeNewswireHiscox appointed Eva Berg-Winters as its new head of U.K. claims.

Berg-Winters will be based in London, and lead the insurer’s 50-person U.K. claims team. She’ll have a specific focus on growing its claims service by improving customer satisfaction and productivity, Hiscox said.

Berg-Winters comes to the specialist global insurer from OC&C, a strategy consulting firm at which she was an associate partner. She is also a veteran of companies including McKinsey & Company, Deutsche Telekom and PwC Strategy.

Preferred Mutual hired Vida Tamoshunas as director of data and analytics.

In her new role, Tamoshunas will develop a team, processes and related technology designed to deliver business value from data using analytics and modeling techniques. She has more than 20-years experience, most recently as a senior vice president at SIGMA Marketing Insights.

Preferred Mutual offers property/casualty insurance coverage through independent agents in New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts and New Hampshire.
