Aspen Re brought on an Axis Reinsurance veteran to be its new head of global property catastrophe.

At Axis, Christian Dunleavy served as senior vice president for U.S. property treaty, Caribbean property, and workers compensation catastrophe business. In his new role, he’ll be based in Bermuda and report to Tom Meyer, chief underwriting officer of Aspen Bermuda Ltd.

Dunleavy replaces Stefan Long, who was promoted earlier this year to the new position of head of Aspen Re, London.

Verisk Insurance Solutions hired insurance and reinsurance industry executive Maroun Mourad as senior vice president of commercial lines domestic and global, ISO Insurance Programs and Analytic Services.

Before Verisk, Mourad was CEO of Zurich Insurance Group’s Middle East operations and based in Dubai. He Veriskalso has prior experience in various roles at Gen Re, AIG, and Arch Re subsidiary Gulf Re, adding up to a 17-year domestic and international track record.

In his new role, Mourad will be tasked with maintaining ISO’s position in the U.S. commercial insurance markets, as well as growing its presence in the specialty, reinsurance and global space

Starr Companies appointed Oliver Ade as its regional vice president for the Midwest region.

Ade will be based in Chicago, where he’ll handle field leadership in the Midwest. He is a 23-year insurance industry veteran with experience covering a number of property/casualty products and also broker distribution responsibilities.

Starr Companies consists of the insurance and travel assistance companies and subsidiaries of Starr International Company, Inc.

The HartfordThe Hartford subsidiary Hartford Investment Management Company appointed John Melvin as managing director and head of portfolio management as of Sept. 14.

Most recently, Melvin was managing director at Goldman Sachs Asset Management and chief investment officer of its global insurance asset management business. He has more than 25 years of experience in the financial services industry.

Parent company The Hartford handles property/casualty insurance, group benefits and mutual funds.
