ACE Ltd. has fleshed out the leadership team for its post-merger North America business units and major product lines. The crew set to take charge once ACE’s $28.3 billion acquisition of The Chubb Corp. closes in the 2016 first quarter.

News of the executive appointments follows ACE’s announcement in July of broader, post-merger executive appointments for the combined company’s North American Insurance operations, coming from both Chubb and ACE operations.

Update: In November, ACE and CNA announced that Dino Robusto would leave to become CEO of CNA in late 2016; Paul Krump will be taking on some of the roles that had been slated to go to him at Chubb.
As reported then, John Lupica will be co-president of the North America Insurance division along with Dino Robusto; and Harold Morrison Jr. is named executive vice president and chief field officer for North America.

The combined company will take the Chubb name.

The new appointments go much deeper, drawing from sizable talent benches at both ACE and Chubb. Here they are:

National Accounts, Middle Market and Small Commercial Insurance Leadership

Christopher A. Maleno will be senior vice president of the new Chubb Group and division president, North America National Accounts. Right now, he’s senior vice president of ACE Group and division president of ACE USA. He’ll be responsible for retail commercial property/casualty insurance in the U.S./Canada corporate market. He’ll report to Lupica.

Steven R. Pozzi is named Chubb Group senior vice and division president, North America middle market. Currently, he’s executive vice president of Chubb and chief operating officer for Chubb Commercial Insurance. Among his new responsibilities: strategy, production, product development and management, and P&L performance. He’ll also be tasked with the successful integration of the Chubb and ACE middle market business currently written in Chubb Commercial Insurance and ACE USA. Pozzi is slated to report to Robusto.

James Williamson will serve as a Chubb Group vice president and division president, North America retail/small commercial. Right now, he’s division president of ACE’s Private Risk Services, which handles ACE’s high net worth personal lines business. He will handle the U.S./Canada retail commercial P/C insurance business targeted to small commercial clients, and report to Robusto.

High Net Worth Personal Lines Leadership

Frances O’Brien is becoming a Chubb Group senior vice president and division president, North America personal insurance. Currently, she’s a senior vice president and chief risk officer at Chubb. She’ll shepherd the personal lines P/C insurance business for U.S. and Canadian high net worth clients. Among her new responsibilities: helping to integrate ACE and Chubb’s personal lines businesses – Chubb Personal Insurance and ACE Private Risk Services. She’ll report to Robusto.

Scott Gunter is taking on the role of chief operating officer of North America personal insurance. Right now, he’s senior vice president and chief underwriting officer for Chubb Commercial Insurance. In his new role, he’ll handle a personal lines organization including the product management team and sales distribution managers in the field. He’ll report to O’Brien.

Wholesale/Excess & Surplus Lines Leadership

Bruce Kessler will become senior vice president of the new Chubb and division president, North America Wholesale/excess & surplus lines. Right now, he’s division president of ACE Westchester, ACE’s Excess & Surplus (E&S) specialty company in North America. In his new role, he’ll, in part, oversee the commercial P/C insurance business that serves the wholesale and E&S market in the U.S. and Canada, and help integrate ACE and Chubb’s E&S businesses in this space. He’ll continue to report to John Lupica.

David Lupica, meanwhile, will take on the role of chief operating officer, North America Wholesale/E&S lines. Currently, he’s division president of ACE Commercial Risk Services, He’ll team with Kessler to run the E&S business, the wholesale small commercial division and the North America programs business. He’ll also report to Kessler.

Bermuda and Global Client Executives Leadership

Joseph Clabby will be vice president of the new Chubb Group and division president, Bermuda and Global Accounts. Right now he’s division president of ACE Bermuda and ACE Global Accounts. Clabby will have oversee the Bermuda-based commercial P/C insurance business that writes high-limit excess liability, property, political risk and directors and officers coverage worldwide. At the same time, Clabby will continue to serve as president, global accounts, focusing on the product and service needs of multinational clients. Clabby will continue to report to John Lupica.

Agriculture Leadership

Michael Coleman will become vice president of the new Chubb Group and division president, North America agriculture. Coleman is currently division president of ACE Agriculture and will continue to oversee the commercial P/C insurance business that serves farmers and other agribusiness clients in the U.S. He’ll keep reporting to John Lupica.

Product Line Leadership

ACE Limited also announced the team that will run the following North American product lines: Professional Lines, Surety and Property.

Robert Cox will be division chairman, North America Professional Lines, and Scott A. Meyer will serve as division President, North America Professional Lines.

Cox is currently executive vice president of Chubb and chief operating officer, Chubb Specialty Insurance, and Meyer is division president of ACE’s North America Professional Lines. Cox and Meyer will handle the professional lines business offered through the National Accounts, Middle Market and Small Commercial business units that serve customers in the U.S. and Canada, as well as the company’s North America Wholesale/E&S business and its operations in Bermuda. Cox will report to John Lupica and Mr. Meyer will report to Cox.

Stephen Haney will be division chairman, North America Surety, and chief underwriting officer, Global Surety. He’s currently division president, Surety, ACE USA, and chief underwriting officer, Global Surety, ACE Group. He’ll oversee commercial and contract surety products and services offered through the National Accounts, Middle Market and Small Commercial business units that serve customers in the U.S. and Canada. Haney will continue to report to John Lupica.

Richard Ciullo will become COO of North America Surety. Right now, he’s senior vice president and COO of Chubb Surety, Mr. Ciullo will assist in the P&L performance of the product line and, with Haney, help integration of ACE and Chubb’s surety products. Ciullo will report to Haney.

Derek Talbott is becoming division chairman, North America Property. Talbott is currently division president, ACE North America Property & Specialty Lines. Talbott will handle all property-related products and services, including builder’s risk, energy, aviation and commercial marine, offered through the National Accounts, Middle Market and Small Commercial business units that serve customers in the U.S. and Canada as well as the company’s North America Wholesale/E&S business and its operations in Bermuda. He’ll keep reporting to John Lupica.

Separately, ACE also named its post-merger North America field leadership team.
