Hamilton Insurance Group announced the appointments of Adrian Daws to chief executive officer, Hamilton Re, based in Bermuda, and Alex Baker to CEO, Hamilton Global Specialty, based in London, succeeding Daws.

Both appointments are subject to requisite regulatory approvals, and Daws must receive immigration approval.

Additionally, Tim Duffin has been appointed to the newly created role of group chief underwriting officer, based in Bermuda. The appointment is effective Jan. 1, 2026, subject to requisite regulatory approval. Daws, Baker and Duffin will all be part of the Executive Management team reporting to Group CEO Pina Albo.

Megan Graves, who has served as CEO of Hamilton Re since 2020, has decided to retire from the company, effective Dec. 31, 2025.

Daws was appointed CEO, Hamilton Global Specialty in 2020 and has over 25 years of industry experience, with extensive knowledge across insurance and reinsurance. He joined Hamilton in 2015 as head of Specialty and deputy active underwriter before transitioning to active underwriter of Hamilton’s Lloyd’s syndicate in 2018.

Baker was appointed group chief risk officer in 2022 and has over 25 years of experience in the insurance industry. He joined Hamilton in 2016, serving as CRO and chief actuary at Hamilton Global Specialty before being promoted to his groupwide role.

Duffin was appointed chief underwriting officer of Hamilton Re in 2017. He has over 25 years of insurance industry experience in the Bermuda and London markets. He joined Hamilton as SVP Property in 2012.

Markel Insurance, the insurance operations within Markel Group Inc., appointed new leadership within its U.S. wholesale and specialty division. The company is simplifying its structure from six U.S. wholesale and two U.S. retail regions to four integrated U.S. regions.

As part of the new structure, the following appointments have been made to lead the four U.S. regions: West, Central, Northeast and Southeast.

Brian Gray, regional president, will lead the West region with expanded oversight. Gray has been with Markel for 22 years and served as regional president for the West region for eight years. In this expanded role, he will have oversight of the wholesale and retail business across the West region.

Mimi Fiske, regional president, will lead the Central region. She has been with Markel for 11 years and served as regional president for Markel’s former Midwest region. In her new role, Fiske will have expanded geographic oversight and scope for wholesale and retail.

Sal Pollaro has been appointed regional president for the expanded Northeast region with scope for wholesale and retail. He has been with Markel for 16 years, most recently serving as executive underwriting officer, professional liability.

Hollis Zyglocke, regional president, will lead the Southeast region. She has been with Markel for seven years and served as regional president for Markel’s former Mid-Atlantic region. In her new role, Zyglocke will have expanded geographic oversight and scope for wholesale and retail.

The Richmond, Va.-based insurer made three additional appointments:

Matt Huels has been appointed chief growth officer, U.S. wholesale and specialty. Huels has been with Markel for 10 years, most recently serving as regional president, West retail region, and reports to Wendy Houser in his new role.

Jim Hinchley has been appointed president, workers compensation and small commercial package. Hinchley joined Markel in 2024 as chief retail officer. He reports to Alex Martin, president, programs and solutions.

Scott Whitehead has been appointed executive underwriting officer, casualty. Whitehead has been with Markel for 26 years, serving in various underwriting leadership roles, most recently as senior managing director, Markel Insurtech. He reports to Mark Schauss, chief underwriting officer.
