Farmers Insurance launched a new roadside assistance program that works through a customer’s cell phone. The Pure Group of Insurance Companies has expanded a key E&S program into South Carolina. Markel added a new enhancement to its general liability product for contractors.

Farmers Insurance has started a new roadside assistant program for its customers that works through their smartphones.

The program uses advanced tech to quickly find customers. It identifies and dispatches the closest service vehicle instantly, and provides real-time notifications, updates and a live progress map customers track with their smartphones.

Keith Daly, chief claims officer for Farmers, said in prepared remarks that the new tool is designed to adapt to customers who are increasingly connected via their smartphone devices.

The PURE Group of Insurance Companies is bring its PURE Programs option into South Carolina. PURE Programs is an Excess & Surplus line offering designed to protect higher risk homes insured for $1 million or more.

Coverage details include Extended Replacement Cost coverage, which provides up to 200 percent of the insured limit for non-wind related losses, and up to 125 percent of the insured limit for hurricane-related losses, should the cost to rebuild after a loss prove greater than the limit of insurance shown on the declarations page.

There’s also a waiver of the All Other Peril deductible after a larger loss, and a loss prevention allowance to help cover the cost of attempts to prevent a loss from recurring, among other benefits.

The Pure Group of Insurance Companies includes Privilege Underwriters Reciprocal Exchange, or PURE, a policyholder-owned property/casualty insurer for high-net-worth individuals and their families.

Markel has added job site pollution enhancement to its general liability product for contractors.

The new product come through the insurer’s Markel Wholesale division, and it is available to Markel’s Wholesale binding agents. Specifically, it provides contractors coverage for sudden and accidental job site pollution claims.

Markel said the endorsement offers a $1 million limit for more than 100 contracting class codes. Evanston Insurance Company is the insuring entity, and the coverage is sold on an excess and surplus lines basis. Markel’s Wholesale binding producers can access this coverage for small commercial contractors at markelonline.com.
