Celmer will be worldwide underwriter for the large-account personal insurance segment, according to a statement Monday from Warren, New Jersey-based Chubb. The insurer also hired Robert Haibi and Eric Shanks, who had worked with Celmer at Fireman’s Fund.
The market for wealthy individuals was shaken up when Ace Ltd. announced a deal in December to buy Fireman’s Fund from Germany’s Allianz SE, which has been narrowing its insurance focus in the U.S. to commercial clients. The coverage for the wealthy can include policies for art, wine and mansions.
“We are thrilled to welcome Jennifer, Robert and Eric to Chubb,” Kathleen Tierney, chief operating officer of personal insurance, said in the statement. “Their broad experience and industry knowledge complement our deep expertise in the high- net-worth insurance marketplace.”
Celmer had previously worked as an underwriter at Chubb and at American International Group Inc.’s private client unit, according to the statement. Chubb also offers commercial coverage that protects corporate clients against lawsuits and property damage.
