About 52 percent of America’s small business insurance customers say they are ready to complete their commercial insurance purchasing online without the aid of an agent or broker.

While more than half of small businesses are ready to complete buy some of their commercial insurance online, Deloitte discovered that there are not many carriers in a position right now to provide online buying of small commercial coverage.

That’s according to research from Deloitte’s Center for Financial Services, which surveyed 750 business owners, conducted focus groups and checked out more than a dozen commercial insurance web sites.

Sam Friedman, research team leader at Deloitte and author of the study, says many U.S. small business are not buying their coverages online because there are not many places where they can do it. But, he predicts, this will change in the United States as it has in the United Kingdom.
