Travelers in parts of the Midwest had to endure a winter snowstorm over the Thanksgiving holiday, according to the National Weather Service.
Snowfall totals ranging from six to 11 inches were reported across northern Illinois and northwest Indiana.
Isolated areas near the Wisconsin state line reported up to a foot of snow.
The storm brought rare, record-breaking snowfall for the month of November, the weather agency reported.
The winter storm significantly impacted travel, with numerous reported vehicle accidents, flight delays, and cancellations across the region.
November 29th snowfall totaled 8.4″ in Chicago, breaking the city’s previous daily snowfall record of 8.0″ on 11/6/1951 (Chicago’s snowfall records date back to 1884).
