Following inspections of U.S. worksites where injuries were reported, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has compiled a preliminary list of the top 10 most commonly cited workplace hazards for fiscal year 2026 (October 1, 2025, through August 31, 2026).
They are:
- Fall Protection, 4041
- Hazard Communication – 1961
- Control of Hazardous Energy (lockout/tagout) – 1863
- Scaffolding, construction – 1725
- Ladders, construction – 1659
- Respiratory Protection, general industry – 1608
- Powered Industrial Trucks, general industry – 1379
- Fall Protection Training, construction – 1273
- Eye and Face Protection, construction – 1120
- Machine Guarding, general industry – 1072
The list provides insight into the preventable injuries, illnesses, and deaths related to these workplace hazards.
