Guidewire Software said it joined up with global startup platform Plug and Play to help promote technology innovation in P/C insurance.
Specifically, Guidewire will work with certain Plug and Play startups, offering mentoring, domain and technical expertise, and the potential opportunity to be showcased in Guidewire Marketplace as value-add extensions to its Insurance Platform.
Plug and Play is a venture fund launched in 2016 focused on the development of new technology startups in 12 verticals. The partnership calls for Guidewire to serve as a corporate partner centered on insurance.
Guidewire Chief Product Officer Ali Kheirolomoom said that he sees Guidewire’s role in this project as being a “curator” that helps bring technology providers together to provide the best products for P/C insurers.
“Our work with the Plug and Play team, its startups and its member companies will enable insurers to remain focused on their businesses while we take on more of the heavy lifting in bringing innovative ideas to reality,” Kheirolomoom said in prepared remarks.
