American International Group hired a new head of International Government Affairs. AmTrust appointed a rising executive to lead its new satellite insurance operations. Nationwide’s chief information officer is retiring. Aspen promoted one of its executives to a new position.
AmTrust at Lloyd’s appointed Chris Gibbs as its new Head of Space.

The Space products AmTrust will be selling cover satellites during their launch and in-orbit operations, and these custom policies can be produced for satellite owners and operators.
Other new members of the AmTrust Space team:
John Fitton, who will be technical advisor, focused on technical analysis of space risks, the review of in-orbit renewals and the technical analysis of claims. Previously, he worked at Osprey Underwriting Agency Ltd. and before that as Program Management Analyst at Telesat Headquarters, where he also consulted for Brit Insurance.
Paris Riseborough, a General Aviation Underwriter, also supports the new team.
Nationwide Chief Information Officer Michael Keller will retire later in 2018.
Keller, CIO for Nationwide since 2001, is credited with transforming the insurer’s IT organization with a focus on culture and teamwork. A search is underway for both internal and external candidates that would replace him, and a successor should be named sometime in the 2018 second half.
Before joining Nationwide, Keller served as chief technology officer at JPMorgan Chase and also held several executive positions at IBM.
American International Group said that Ed Barron will join the company as head of International Government Affairs as of March 2018 and will be based in London, United Kingdom.
In this new role, Barron will be responsible for developing a cohesive, global perspective and engagement strategy for legislative and regulatory matters relevant to driving AIG’s future success. He’ll lead the management and monitoring of AIG’s governmental policy outside the United States and provide strategic counsel as relates to AIG’s international business.
Barron will report to Tom Leonardi, executive vice president, Government Affairs, Public Policy and Communications.
