Erie Insurance has a new senior vice president for Commercial Product. JLT Specialty USA brought on an Aon veteran as a new partner.

Erie Insurance appointed Sarah Shine as a senior vice president for Commercial Products.

Shine has been with Erie since 2000, when she joined as an actuarial analyst for Personal Lines. Shine shifted to Commercial Lines in 2004, and has served as vice president of Commercial writing since 2013. Earlier this year, Shine was named regional senior vice president, Underwriting, Southeast Region.

Shine is credited with helping to strengthen the role of Erie’s commercial underwriting support staff to enable more effectiveness across the team. She also initiated efforts to build talent through internships and dedicated training programs, as well as building bench strength within the underwriting team.

JLT Specialty USA brought on Andy O’Brien as Partner.

JLT said the appointment is part of its continued investment into Construction specialty, further supporting its partnership with Construction Risk Partners.

O’Brien, who will be part of CRP, will be tasked with leading the development and growth of the Boston office. Previously, he spent over a decade with Aon, where he served as a member of Aon Construction’s National Brokerage Team and was the Brokerage Leader for the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic regions.

In that role, he helped develop and launch broking strategies and key initiatives on all insurance placements within his region.
