An insurance industry veteran of Chubb and Mitsui Sumitomo, among other companies, is joining Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance Company to help launch its new Dublin office. JLT Specialty USA named a new executive vice president.
Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance Company launched a new office in Dublin and has appointed an industry veteran to run it.
Cormac McNamara’s title will be Property & Casualty Manager, BHSI Ireland.
McNamara has more than 24 years of insurance industry experienced, with a focus on the UK and Ireland Insurance markets. Most recently, he was MS Amlin/Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance Group, where he held a variety of underwriting positions. Before taking on the BHSI job, he was Ireland Underwriting & Distribution Manager.
Previous to Mitsui Sumitomo, Cormac was Commercial Insurance Manager, UK Region and Ireland, at Chubb Insurance Company of Europe. He also held several other underwriting positions at Chubb before beginning his career at QBE Europe.
JLT Specialty USA named Michael O’Brien as an executive vice president.
O’Brien will join JLT’s Chicago office and lead business development efforts in the Midwest. His hire is a continuation of JLT’s growth strategy and expansion plans in the U.S. around key industries and product specialties.
O’Brien brings to JLT more than 20 years of business experience focused on serving clients. O’Brien spent the last 11 years in insurance brokerage, most recently with Aon serving as Managing Director. While there, he focused on areas including Corporate Insurance, and Health and Benefits across all industries, geographies and financial size. His sectors of specialization include: Public Sector, Construction, Real Estate, Technology and Private Equity – Mergers &Acquisitions; including Transactional Liability Insurance.
