JLT Specialty USA has chosen Chicago as its U.S. headquarters.
The U.S. subsidiary of Jardine Lloyd Thompson Group plc announced the news on Jan. 18, along with Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel. JLT’s US headquarters is at 225 West Wacker street in Chicago on the 5th floor, with staff including a number of JLT executives and about 60 specialists in a number of key product areas and industries. Plans call for doubling the Chicago workforce over the next few years.
Michael Rice, CEO of JLT Specialty USA, said that Chicago won out as U.S. headquarters for a number of reasons. JLT Specialty USA also has operations in cities including Denver, Houston, Los Angeles, New Jersey New York, Philadelphia, San Francisco and Tampa, Florida, according to the company’s web site.
“As complex risk specialists we offer deep expertise in key industries and products. Chicago became an obvious choice for investment given its impressive infrastructure, higher education and talent pool, especially in the insurance sector,” Rice said in prepared remarks. “We continue to see value in making long term investments here.”
