AXIS Capital Holdings’ AXIS Re arm hired a former Swiss Re executive in a leadership role. InsurTech startup Snapsheet promoted from within to name its new chief technology officer.

AXIS Capital Holdings Ltd. appointed Swiss Re veteran Neil Monahan as senior vice president, professional liability for its AXIS Re division.

Monahan will lead AXIS Re’s Professional Liability reinsurance underwriting business in the U.S. He’ll be based in New York and report to John Colello, president and chief underwriting officer, U.S. of AXIS Re.

Monahan has more than 30 years of experience in the insurance and reinsurance industries. Previously, Monahan was head of broker relations, Professional Liability Lines, at Swiss Re. He also has previous leadership experience at Cigna Special Risk Facilities, Reliance National and PMA Re.

InsurTech startup Snapsheet promoted Dan Colomb to the role of chief technology officer.

Previously Colomb was the company’s vice president of engineering. He joined Snapsheet in 2014 and is credited with developing a scalable product that could process a high volume of claims.

Snapsheet provides virtual claims technology for the personal and commercial insurance marketplace, and currently processes more than 400,000 claims a year.

Before Snapsheet, Coomb was a software architect in HP’s Autonomy division, heading development of its secure enterprise document management software. He also has previous experience with Motorola.
