Specialist insurer Beazley hired two new executives for its U.S. environmental team. Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance named a veteran executive to a position that covers the UK and Southern Europe. Lockton Companies brought on a new senior vice president. JLT Specialty USA appointed a key executive.

Beazley has beefed up its U.S. environmental team with two new executive hires.

The specialist insurer brought on Edwin Baez as an environmental underwriter with a focus on site specific pollution coverage. Previously, Baez was with Berkley Environmental where he held senior positions in New York and Miami. Before that, he was a senior environmental underwriter with XL and Zurich. He’ll be based in Miami.

Kirk Jordan is joining Beazley as an environmental underwriter based in Chicago. Before that, he was an electronic futures trader for ARB Trading Group, and was once a process engineer with ExxonMobil in Texas.

Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance named Martin Leeks as senior vice president, Casualty, UK and Southern Europe. The appointment comes with BHSI’s launch of Public and Products Liability Insurance in the UK, Ireland and Southern Europe.

Leeks was most recently at Mitsui Sumitomo at Lloyd’s, and has 26 years of casualty underwriting experience.

Before Mitsui Sumitomo, Leeks was a senior underwriter at Chartis (AIG), Cat Excess and held casualty underwriting roles at ACE Europe and Zurich. He launched his career handling international claims.

Angelo Galioto joined Lockton Companies as a senior vice president based in its Minneapolis office.

Galioto has more than 20 years of risk management industry experience, including 15-years-plus as a senior vice president at Wells Fargo Insurance and four years as the commercial underwriting manager at The Hartford.

Lockton is the world’s largest privately held, independent insurance broker.

JLT Specialty USA appointed Gabe Levitt as an executive vice president.

Levitt will be based in JLT’s New York office, focused on servicing private equity firms, real estate owners/developers and other alternative investment groups in the U.S.

JLT said Levitt’s hire is a continuation of its U.S. growth strategy and expansion plans around key industries and product specialties.

Levitt, a 23-year veteran of insurance and related industries, was most recently at Krauter & Company, where he spent 13 years at the insurance brokerage focused on sourcing and serving private equity and real estate clients, plus their respective portfolio companies and holdings.

JLT Specialty USA is a subsidiary of Jardine Lloyd Thompson Group plc., a specialty insurer and reinsurer, and provider of employee benefits related advice, brokerage and related services.
