An ex-QBE exec is now with Sompo International in a leadership position focused on loss control. Markel Corp. promoted one of its executives to become managing director, Global Insurance Business Development and Corporate Account Executive.

A former QBE executive joined Sompo International, the Bermuda-based property/casualty specialty insurer and reinsurer, in a leadership role.

Victor Sordillo is Sompo International’s new senior vice president, loss control leader. In his new role, he’ll direct the company’s loss control team in the continued development and delivery of strategic loss control services. He’ll start, initially, working with Global Risk Solutions’ underwriting teams to deliver risk management services to middle-market and large account clients in the real estate, hospitality, financial institutions and professional services industries.

Longer term, Sordillo will be tasked with evolving Sompo International’s loss control capabilities into a service that will support all of the Sompo International insurance platform. He’s based in New York and will report to Michael Chang, CEO of Sompo Global Risk Solutions.

Previously, Sordillo was at QBE, where he served as senior vice president, Loss Control. Before QBE, he spent 30 years at the Chubb Group in various leadership roles.

Markel Corp. named Glenn Mozingo managing director, Global Insurance Business Development and Corporate Account Executive.

Mozingo’s new job involves serving as a key point of contact for brokers throughout the United States. He’ll also promote product lines underwritten by Markel’s Global Insurance division and cultivate strategic relations with production partners.

Mozingo, a 40-year insurance industry veteran, joined Markel Corp. in 2011 to lead its industry practice groups after serving as regional placement officer for Willis HRH’s Atlantic Region.

Mozingo is based in Richmond, Va., and reports to Britt Glisson, president of Markel’s Global Insurance division.
