Companies and their captives can now tap into Zurich’s Security and Privacy Protection Policy to cover data breach-related costs including business income loss, dependent business income loss, notifying regulatory authorities and affected individuals, regulatory fines, media liability and defense and settlement.

The Ohio-based transportation and specialty insurance company said the policy is designed to address the growing threat of malicious cyber-attacks and employee errors that could lead to a sizeable loss. It is designed to provide coverage for certain economic losses if the company is a victim of a breach, and pricing/coverages will vary by state.
Coverage will also include crisis management and public relations services to use after an incident, as well as access to a risk management website with educational tools and resources. Limits range from $50,000 to $1 million.
