Hiscox USA has a new head of claims; Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance brought on a new exec for its Asia surety expansion; Novarica has a new vice president.
Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance Company appointed Andrew Ho as vice president, head of surety in BHSI cropped Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Logo--updated--sent by Joann Lee in June 2014Asia.

Ho, will be tasked with helping BHSI establish a presence in the ASIA surety market, a new initiative for the specialty insurer.

BHSI’s initial surety focus in Asia will be on civil contractors, general builders, engineering firms, equipment manufacturers and suppliers, and fabrication firms.

Ho was previously at Standard Chartered Bank, where he was director, Trade Programmes & Credit Insurance. He also has surety and trade credit experience from QBE.

Hiscox USA brought on Bryan Falchuk as its new head of claims.

Falchuk will lead a claims team focused initially on the small and middle market, and report to Jeremy Pinchin, Hiscox Logo Small GlobeNewswiredirector of claims for Hiscox Group, and Hiscox USA CEO Ben Walter.

Previously, Falchuk has leadership or consulting roles in firms including Liberty Mutual, McKinsey and Beazley.

Falchuk replaces former Head of Claims Nicole Goodwin, who became chief underwriting officer over the summer.

Shareholders at Allied World Assurance Company Holdings elected Patricia Guinn and Fiona Luck to its board of directors.

Allied WorldBoth were elected at a special shareholder meeting and will serve until Allied World’s annual meeting in April 2016.

Guinn retired from Towers Watson in June 2015, where she had served as managing director of its risk and financial services segment, and was a member of its management committee since 2010.

Luck served on the board of directors of Catlin Group from August 2012 until it merged with XL in May 2015. She was also executive vice president and chief of staff at XL Group from June 2006 through June 2009, and then special advisor to the CEO through January 2010.

Novarica hired Chuck Ruzicka as a vice president of research and consulting.

The insurance technology-focused research and consulting firm said Ruzicka will be bringing a large background on IT strategy to the firm.

Before Novarica, Ruzicka was CIO/senior vice president of the agency markets division of Liberty Mutual, where he handled global infrastructure and security. Previously, he was also a vice president at Progressive Insurance, and a CIO at a number of regional insurance companies.
