Two months ago, as COVID-19 began to spread from its initial hotspots in China and Italy into the U.S., there was a great deal of speculation about how it might impact cybersecurity risk.

Cybersecurity experts discussed a number of different risks posed by confusion around the virus and the rapid shift of many companies to remote work. Some even considered a worst-case scenario, in which widespread illness led to staffing issues and the inability of organizations to maintain proper security as a result.
