Robert Wiest is chief executive officer of MS Reinsurance, the primary reinsurance arm of Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance Co. Based in Zurich, Wiest joined MS Re in January 2022 from Swiss Re where he most recently held the position of chief operating officer of the Reinsurance division, overseeing global strategy and operations. Prior to this, he spent five years in Beijing as CEO of Swiss Re China, and five years in Hong Kong as Strategy and Operations Officer for Asia, developing the market by building bridges across business, political, and academic sectors. Wiest has also served as a board member for several insurance-related companies in China, India, and Europe including Swiss Re Reinsurance Holdings and Alltrust Insurance.
