QBE North America hired a former AIG and Attune executive in a leadership role focused on multinational offerings. Chubb has a new senior vice president focused on North America commercial insurance. JLT Specialty USA named a new senior vice president. CNA Hardy grabbed a former Chubb executive to be its new head of Life Sciences, Technology & Cyber.

QBE North America has appointed Richard Friesenhahn as head of Multinational for North America. Based in New York, Friesenhahn will support the company’s expansion of multinational services and offerings.

Friesenhahn has more than 38 years of industry experience with various affiliates of Amercian International Group, including as executive vice president of U.S. Casualty Lines. Last April he assumed the role as chief executive officer for Attune, a technology-oriented startup formed by AIG, Hamilton Insurance Group and Two Sigma Investments for the small to medium-sized enterprise market. He will report to Kathleen Zortman, president, Property & Casualty.

Attune recently named James Hobson, formerly chief operating officer of online small business lender OnDeck, to be its new chief executive officer.

Scott Gunter

Scott Gunter has been appointed senior vice president, Chubb Group, division president, North America Commercial Insurance.

In his new role, he’ll oversee the retail commercial property/casualty insurance business that serves the North America middle market, through 48 offices in the U.S. and Canada. Gunter handle tasks including strategy, production, product development and management, and P&L performance.

Gunter will report to Paul Krump, executive vice president, Chubb Group president, North America Commercial and Personal Insurance.

Previously, Gunter was chief operating officer for Chubb’s North America Personal Risk Services division. Before ACE acquired Chubb in January 2016, he was Chubb Commercial Insurance global chief underwriting officer.

Gunter is succeeding Steven Pozzi, who is retiring at the end of 2017 after a 36-year insurance industry career.

JLT Specialty USA appointed Gavin Shiels as senior vice president.

Most recently, Shiels was at Aon, as a senior vice president in their San Francisco office, where he focused on building and managing colleague teams to provide risk advisory, consulting, and brokerage services to clients in the real estate, technology, financial institution and food & beverage industries.

In his new position, Shiels will be based in San Francisco and focus in part on client development within JLT’s real estate practice. He’ll offer insights on the insurance marketplace and delivering specialized products for JLT’s clients.

JLT Specialty USA is a U.S. subsidiary of Jardine Lloyd Thompson Group plc., a provider of specialty insurance, reinsurance and employee benefits-related advice, brokerage and related services.

CNA Hardy, the London-based specialist commercial insurer, appointed David Legassick as head of Life Sciences, Technology & Cyber.

Reporting to Rhonda Buege, head of Healthcare and Technology, Legassick will oversee CNA Hardy’s life science, technology and cyber business for all international business across both the London company and Lloyd’s platforms.

Legassick comes to CNA Hardy from Chubb, where he has held a number of positions including underwriting specialist and London team manager and, most recently, UK and Ireland technology and life sciences manager.

CNA Hardy said that Legassick’s appointment follows a number of senior hires and internal promotions in the healthcare, life science, cyber and technology area, including Tony Bainbridge who joined CNA Hardy in Singapore as senior healthcare underwriter, and Matt Sumpter, who was promoted to technology underwriting director.

CNA Hardy is part of CNA Financial Corp.
