A new report from the Workers’ Compensation Insurance Rating Bureau of California shows written premium in 2022 was 14 percent above the previous year.
The WCIRB’s Quarterly Experience Report is an update on California statewide insurer experience as of Sept. 30, 2023.
Highlights of the report include:
- Written premium in 2022 is 14 percent higher than 2021 and almost at the pre-pandemic level.
- The average charged rate for the first nine months of 2023 continues to decrease.
- The projected loss ratio, including the cost of COVID-19 claims, dropped 2 points in accident year 2022.
- The projected combined ratio for accident year 2022, including COVID-19 claims, is 6 points lower than in 2021.
