Previsico, a live flood alert InsurTech, announced its partnership with Geosite, a geospatial data provider. Previsico’s service provides Geosite’s U.S. carrier clients with live flood alerts so they can work with their customers ahead of a natural catastrophe event and work to mitigate flood losses.

These live actionable insights, including for surface water flooding, are now available through Bedrock, Geosite’s multiperil, spatial data engine platform. As a storm approaches properties that are most likely to experience flooding are identified and customers are alerted up to 48 hours in advance so they can take mitigation measures.

The flood forecasts from Previsico will be updated every three hours with projected flood depths and are already used by Zurich, Liberty and Generali. The data aims to improve underwriting, claims processing, reserving and customer support for Geosite’s clients before first notice of loss.

The data Geosite sources and surfaces for insurance carriers comes from multiple sources, such as satellites, drones, aircraft, Internet of Things devices and advanced analytics, combined with exposure data from geospatial artificial intelligence and property information partners, and can be used to analyze multiple perils such as flooding, wildfires and earthquakes.
