Aspen Insurance Holdings appointed a new Group Chief Investment Officer. Hippo brought on a new board member. Corvus Insurance named a new Head of Property and Cargo.

Aspen Insurance Holdings Limited appointed Aileen Mathieson as Group Chief Investment Officer (CIO), effective November 15, 2021. She will be based in London and join the Group Executive Committee.

Mathieson brings over 15 years of investment and financial experience and joins from Aberdeen Standard Investments where she was Global Head of Insurance. Before this, she was CIO, UK Life for Zurich and during her career also held senior finance roles at Nucleus Financial Group plc, Standard Life Group, Diageo plc and EMI Music.

Mathieson takes up the role of Chief Investment Officer following the retirement of Bryan Astwood. He will continue as an Advisor to Group Executive Chairman and CEO, Mark Cloutier, and he will remain a director of Aspen Bermuda Limited. her being an active and engaged member of our executive team.

Hippo, an insurance MGA focused on home insurance, disclosed that Amy Errett will join its board of directors.

Errett is the founder and CEO of Madison Reed, an omnichannel beauty brand, and a Partner at True Ventures, which has invested in consumer and ecommerce startups, including Peloton, Ring, and Sweetgreen.

Prior to founding Madison Reed, Errett was a General Partner responsible for the Bay Area office of Maveron, a leading consumer-sector venture capital firm. Before Maveron, Errett was CEO of Olivia, the travel company for LGBTQ+ women, where she led the repositioning of the travel business to a complete lifestyle company. Errett also served on the senior management team at E*TRADE, which followed her 10 years as Founder and CEO of The Spectrem Group, a worldwide strategic consulting firm.

Corvus Insurance brought on Bryan Schofield as its Head of Property and Cargo.

Schofield most recently served on the leadership team of Orchid Underwriters as SVP, where he spearheaded their Commercial Lines division including proprietary programs and a wholesale division. With Schofield’s background deeply rooted in innovative insurance and business intelligence, he will leverage his expertise and blend technology, data science and underwriting to strengthen organizations’ postures around property and cargo management.

He will also work with Corvus’s team of software engineers and data scientists to create bespoke solutions for insureds, brokers, risk capital providers and reinsurers. As well, Schofield will establish a new AI and data-driven Smart Property Program to offer clients through the value chain from insured to reinsurer. With a data-driven approach, Schofield and the Corvus team will equip capital providers and brokers with the actionable insights needed to thrive in the next generation of insurance technology.
