A former Validus executive is the new head of wholesale property for Navigators, a unit of The Hartford. AXA XL announced two additions to its UK broker management team.

A former Validus executive is the new head of wholesale property for Navigators, a unit of The Hartford.

In his new role, William Steinberg reports to Vince Tizzio, head of the Global Specialty business at The Hartford.

As head of wholesale property, Steinberg will lead the strategic direction and underwriting for the company’s wholesale property products, and manage relationships with wholesale distribution partners in the property space. He will partner closely with Tim Ryan, leader of the Wholesale division for Navigators.

Before joining The Hartford, Steinberg was senior vice president and head of commercial property at Validus Specialty Underwriters (owned by AIG) in Boston. While there, he built a commercial property E&S brokerage team. Previous to Validus, he held a variety of commercial property underwriting leadership roles spanning more than 25 years.

AXA XL announced two additions to its UK broker management team: Michael Clarke has been appointed Regional Broker Distribution leader while Robyn Warke has been named Broker Distribution leader.

As Regional Broker Distribution leader, Clarke is responsible for leading AXA XL’s regional distribution strategy, with the aim of developing relationships with UK regional brokers and profitably growing the UK book of business. He joins from Willis Towers Watson, where he managed several of the broker’s strategic relationships with its key insurer partners. He previously worked at Aon, including lead consultant/ engagement manager. Clarke started his career in an underwriting role at NFU Mutual.

As Broker Distribution Leader, Warke has responsibility for managing and expanding relationships with international brokers. She also will work with the London-based and regional underwriting teams to profitably grow the UK book of business.

Warke joins from Generali, where she most recently held the position of key account executive, with responsibility for managing key broker relationships in the UK across all lines of business. Previously, Warke had undertaken business development and claims roles at ERS Insurance and Catalyst Consulting.

Both Clarke and Warke report to Allan Murley, head of UK Broker Management at AXA XL. Clarke is based in Birmingham and Warke in London.
