An ex-AIG executive signed on with Tokio Marine HCC as its new business innovation officer. W.R. Berkley Corp. promoted a veteran executive to president of Berkley North Pacific.

Former AIG executive Shilpa Strong has joined Tokio Marine HCC as its business innovation officer.

She’s tasked with facilitating continued investment in operational efficiencies, customer experience and digital innovation, effective Jan. 7, 2019. Strong is based in New York and reports to Mark Callahan, executive vice president.

Strong, a 20-year insurance and reinsurance industry veteran, was most recently the global head of commercial engagement at AIG. She has also held positions at Quanta Capital Holdings, Munich Re and Swiss Re. She has expertise in areas including underwriting, strategic and financial planning, operations management and business transformation.

W.R. Berkley Corp. appointed Gary Gudex as president of Berkley North Pacific, a Berkley Company.

Gudex comes to Berkley North Pacific with more than 30 years of experience in the property/casualty insurance industry. He joined Berkley as director of underwriting at Berkley Net in 2008. Before that, he held various positions at other insurers focusing on underwriting and producer relationships.

Berkley North Pacific is a regional commercial property and casualty insurance provider that offers local underwriting, claims and risk management services through independent agents in Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana and Utah.
