A former Chubb executive is joining Everest Re Group in a leadership role at its Reinsurance division. Ex-executives from Willis Towers Watson and Nationwide Insurance are starting as underwriters at XL Catlin’s North America Construction business. A former Travelers executive signed on with AXIS Capital Holdings Limited as its global head of Ceded Reinsurance.

Everest Re Group, Ltd. appointed Ike Barbatsoulis as chief reinsurance claims officer for its Reinsurance division.

Barbatsoulis will be responsible for driving the strategic direction of the Reinsurance Claims organization, with continued focus on customer service, increased operational efficiencies and advanced analytical capabilities.

He joins Everest from Chubb, where he held senior positions across Chubb Global Claims, Chubb Services Corporation and Chubb Insurance. Most recently, he was senior vice president for Chubb Global Claims, with strategic and operational responsibility for Chubb’s worldwide legal and professional services vendor network. Before joining Everest, Barbatsoulis was the chief operating officer for Chubb Services Corporation.

Barbatsoulis has more than 29 years’ experience in the claims space.

XL Catlin’s North America Construction business brought on two additional underwriters: Jillian Eckert and Laura Travis. Both will be based in Philadelphia.

Eckert joins XL Catlin from Willis Towers Watson, where she most recently served as a construction client manager. While there, she was responsible for addressing the insurance needs of several complex large and middle-market construction clients.

Travis was previously at Nationwide Insurance, where she served as a commercial underwriter.

AXIS Capital Holdings Limited appointed Anne Kelly as global head of Ceded Reinsurance, effective Sept. 4, 2018.

In this role, Kelly will lead the company’s Ceded Re function across all of AXIS’ insurance product lines.

Kelly has more than 30 years of insurance and reinsurance industry experience, most recently as second vice president at Travelers, where she managed all phases of the reinsurance placement process for many of the company’s internal customers. She has also held underwriting roles at Shelby Insurance and Chubb.

Kelly will be based in New York and will report to Ben Rubin, global head of Risk Funding at AXIS.
