XL Catlin promoted two executives who will fuel expansion of its regional U.S. War, Terrorism & Political Violence Insurance team. Arch Capital Group’s Arch Insurance Europe named an executive who will help lead strategy and distribution efforts.

XL Catlin is expanding its regional U.S. War, Terrorism & Political Violence Insurance team with two promotions.

Lindsey Nieves is now assistant vice president, underwriting manager, South and Central Zone, based in Atlanta, and Jason Gardenhire has been added as an underwriter in Dallas.

Nieves joined XL Catlin in 2014 from AIG, where she served as a risk management specialist. Her career also includes positions with Progressive and as a paralegal with a Charleston-based law firm.

Gardenhire will lead XL Catlin’s Terrorism and Political Violence underwriting activities and manage broker relationships in the Texas and Central zone, which includes Louisiana, Illinois, Missouri and Minnesota. He has more than 15 years of insurance experience and joins XL Catlin from Progressive, where he managed a team of NATCAT claims specialists.

Arch Insurance Europe named Simon Williams as senior vice president, Strategy & Distribution.

In his new role, Williams will report to Arch Insurance Europe President and CEO Matthew Shulman. He’ll focus on strategic initiatives, distribution management and business development across the entire Arch Insurance Europe platform, including business written by Syndicate 2012 at Lloyd’s and Arch Insurance Company (Europe) Limited.

Previously, Williams spent 22 years at Hiscox Syndicate 33, most recently as head of Marine & Energy.
