Erie Insurance promoted one of its veteran employees to an executive leadership role. RLI Corp. named one of its veteran executives as its new Chief Claim Officer. JLT Specialty USA appointed someone new as a senior vice president.

Erie Insurance appointed one of its longtime employees to an executive leadership role.

Ann Carlin was named vice president, First Notice of Loss, Customer Service Ops & Strategy. Carlin has served in this role on an interim basis since March 2018.

Carlin, a 25-year insurance industry veteran, began her career at Erie Insurance as a part-time policy processor and first notice of loss representative. In 2000, she became a full-time inside claims representative, later becoming supervisor. In 2011, Carlin switched to Customer Care Operations, holding several leadership roles including her most recent role as director, Contact Center Operations.

RLI Corp. promoted Bob Handzel to the position of vice president, Chief Claim Officer.

In his new role, Handzel will be responsible for successful claims handling and resolution for the corporation’s insurance programs. He replaces Don Driscoll, who has transitioned to an executive leadership position in RLI’s claim department.

Handzel began his career at RLI in 2006 as director, Casualty Claims and was promoted to assistant vice president, Claim in 2012 and vice president, Claim in 2016. Handzel has more than 40 years of industry experience.

Prior to joining RLI, he held various claims positions at CNA Insurance.

JLT Specialty USA, a U.S. subsidiary of Jardine Lloyd Thompson Group plc., appointed Kirk Bantz as senior vice president.

Based in Columbus, Bantz will play a pivotal role in delivering specialized products for complex risks for life sciences and manufacturing companies by leveraging his in-depth experience in the field.

With over 25 years of insurance and risk management experience, Bantz comes to JLT from USI and has also served as director of Risk Management for Cardinal Health, where he was responsible for designing and placing one of the largest stock throughput programs in the history of Lloyds of London.
