A former PartnerRe exec is joining Everest Re, with plans to head Casualty Underwriting in its Zurich office. W.R. Berkley Corp. gave one of its longtime executives an additional leadership role.

Everest Re Group hired a former PartnerRe executive to be head of Casualty Underwriting for the reinsurer’s Zurich office.
Robert Schaetti has more than 25 years of industry experience, with close to 20 spent as a casualty underwriter.
Most recently, Schaetti was head of Liability and Medical Malpractice for Europe for Partner Re, which he joined in 2002.
Before that, Schaetti held underwriting positions with AXA Winterthur.

W.R. Berkley Corp. has given Gregory Douglas additional management 
responsibilities.
Right now, Douglas is president of Berkley Re Direct. He has also become president of Berkley Program Specialists.
Douglas has been with W.R. Berkley Corp. since 2010. Previously, he held various senior positions with property/casualty insurers and global reinsurers. He has 30 years of experience in the insurance industry, including a background in specialty insurance.
