Swiss Re’s Corporate Solutions arm named a new CEO for its China division. QBE North America hired a new executive who will help shape operations in the western United States.
Swiss Re Corporate Solutions named Jingwei Jia as chief executive officer, China.
Jia will be based in Shanghai and focus on building Swiss Re Corporate Solutions’ China operations into a leading commercial insurer. His appointment depends on approval from the China Insurance Regulatory Commission.
Jia joined Swiss Re in 2003, and has held senior business development and underwriting roles since that time in China, Singapore, U.K. and the U.S.
Jia replaces Andreas Hillebrand, who lead Swiss Re Corporate Solutions China since the aquisition of Sun Alliance. He’ll be returning to his post in Zurich as global head of credit and surety.
QBE North America, a division of QBE Group, hired David Kuhn as senior vice president, regional executive – Western Region.
Kuhn is a 30-year industry veteran who was most recently with Hanover Insurance Group, where he was regional president of the company’s Pacific region. But he also has previous QBE experience, having served as senior vice president at QBE North America from 2011 through 2012.
As well, he’s a veteran of companies including Travelers Insurance and Aetna, among others.
In his new role, Kuhn will lead QBE’s go-to-market activities in 10 western states. Also, he’ll be responsible for the region’s growth as far as QBE’s insurance and business products, plus all agent and broker relationships and performance in the region. He’ll be based in California.
