Argo Group International Holdings subsidiary Alteris Insurance Services is rolling out a new specialty insurance program that will help cover entities such as water or sewer facilities.

The coverage will be available in every U.S. state except Alaska and Hawaii, and provide up to $11 million in capacity to address property and liability losses involving treatment, storage and distribution of water, Alteris said. Specialty coverages will include general liability, auto liability, employment practices liability, public officials liability and law enforcement professional liability, the company said.

Potential, coverable water related facilities include those that handle treatment of water, sewage, water reclamation and irrigation districts, Alteris said. Its Alteris Public Risk Solutions will manage the coverage. This division is already offering specialty insurance products and services to governmental entities and self-insured governmental pools.

In explaining the new specialty insurance program, John Atherton, senior vice president and general manager of Alteris Public Risk Solutions, said in a statement: “Large water-related entities continue to deal with increasingly complex risks in their day-to-day operations, yet traditional insurance products available in the market today are still falling short.”
