CNA Financial Corp., majority-owned by the Tisch family’s Loews Corp., hired Kathleen Ellis and Drew Feldman to be senior vice presidents as the property-casualty insurer picks up more veterans of Chubb Corp.

Ellis and Feldman will be based in Chicago and report to Julie Stephenson, who is in charge of commercial underwriting, CNA said Monday in a statement. Chubb’s Dino Robusto was hired by CNA last year to take over when Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Thomas Motamed retires in December.

Robusto was a big win for CNA. He had been with The Chubb Corp. for nearly 30 years. Chubb was acquired this year by Ace Ltd., which took the name Chubb Ltd, and the combined company had big things in mind for Robusto. He had been in line to become an executive vice president of the new Chubb Group and co-president of the North America Insurance division.

CNA has also named Chubb’s Joel Townsend as a senior vice president. “We are excited that Kathleen Ellis and Drew Feldman have joined,” Kevin Leidwinger, president of CNA Commercial, said in the statement. The hires are “very well suited to further strengthen our commercial-insurance organization.”

Ellis will run CNA’s international commercial operations while Feldman will lead the marine and equipment-breakdown division, the insurer said.

Also this year, CNA hired former Chubb executive Dieter Korte as vice president, underwriting for its manufacturing division.

As well, CNA hired ex-Chubb executive David Lim as its new assistant vice president, management liability zone lieader for the Northern Zone.
