A former Chubb executive is Zurich North America’s new Head of Distribution for the U.S. Middle Market. AXA XL’s North America Construction business promoted two veteran executives to lead its Construction Professional and Subcontractor Default Insurance business lines, respectively. An ex-Swiss Re executive joined Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance as Head of Customer & Broker Engagement in France.

Carl Sutter

Zurich North America named former Chubb executive Carl Sutter Head of Distribution for U.S. Middle Market. He will report to Alex Wells, Head of U.S. Middle Market and become a member of the Middle Market Senior leadership team and Zurich North America’s Leadership Team.

Sutter will manage Zurich’s Regional Field Distribution team, which represents all Zurich business units in the marketplace and includes executive leaders spanning the entire Zurich organization.

Sutter joins Zurich from Chubb, where he served as Senior Vice President of Partnership Services for their TPA subsidiary, ESIS. Previously, he held several leadership roles of increasing responsibility at Chubb and its predecessor, ACE USA, including Senior Vice President and National Distribution Leader and Senior Vice President and National Corporate Risk Segment Leader.

AXA XL’s North America Construction business promoted Ray Allen and Jim Richert to lead its Construction Professional and Subcontractor Default Insurance business lines, respectively.

Allen, as the new head of AXA XL’s Construction Professional Profit Center, assumes underwriting management of AXA XL’s contractors professional and environmental liability insurance coverages. Allen has more than 20 years of professional liability and pollution insurance experience collected in various claims, underwriting and management roles.

Richert, in his new role as head of AXA XL’s SDI Profit Center, will assume underwriting management oversight of AXA XL’s SDI business, offering general contractors and construction managers financial protection against potential financial losses that result following the failure of subcontractors to perform. Richert has 25 years of experience in the construction industry, including 15 years focused on SDI. Since 2011, he has managed the business line’s team of SDI risk engineers that provides consultation, training, and best practices to help contractors minimize subcontractor default risk.

AXA XL’s North America Construction insurance business includes dedicated construction underwriters providing primary and excess casualty, professional liability, builders risk, wrap ups, subcontractor default, and pollution insurance.

Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance appointed Camille Luciani as Head of Customer & Broker Engagement in France.

She has nearly 25 years of experience on both the insurer and brokerage sides of the business.

Most recently, Luciani was Customer & Distribution Manager, Corporate Solutions, at Swiss Re. She holds an International Business School master’s degree from Ecole SupĂ©rieure du Commerce ExtĂ©rieur, and a Master of Art in International Business Economics from Anglia University.
