AXA XL added an executive to its U.S. operations. Buckle hired its first-ever Chief People Officers, turning to a Farmers Insurance veteran for the job.

AXA XL’s Marine insurance business is adding an executive to its U.S. operations.

Senior Risk Consultant Jarek Klimczak will be transferring to AXA XL’s New York City office from Singapore as of Sept. 1, 2021.

Before relocating to the U.S., Klimczak supported the growth of AXA XL’s Cargo and Bluewater Hull books in Asia and Australia. He brings to his new role more than 32 years of maritime, logistics, insurance, and risk management expertise. As well, Klimczak has extensive experience within the shipping and logistics industry with a focus on loading security, heavy-lift operations, and towage as well as deep skills in cargo security and risk management.

Before joining the insurance industry, Klimczak served as a port captain in Singapore, a cargo superintendent in Germany, among other maritime industry roles. He holds a Masters in Nautical science and Marine Transportation from Poland’s Gdynia Maritime University.

The InsurTech Buckle appointed Farmers Insurance veteran Cheryl Sinclair to the company’s newly created position of Chief People Officer.

Sinclair spent nearly 20 years in various human resources roles at Farmers Insurance, most recently as Assistant Vice President, Human Resources.

At her new job, Sinclair is responsible for developing Buckle’s human resources strategy, including talent and performance management as Buckle’s growing team continues to support the new emerging middle class and providers to the gig economy.

While at Farmers Insurance, Sinclair designed a business-based HR model still in place today, leading a team of 50+ regional HR partners across multiple states and lines of business for over 20,000 employees. Most recently, she was Head of Talent Management for Holland America Group, serving Princess Cruises, Holland America Line, Seabourn and P & O Australia. She has a bachelor’s degree in business administration and management from Texas Tech University.

Buckle’s business model revolves around a financial services digital platform focused on insurance, credit and advocacy for the gig economy.
