PartnerRe tapped a former W.R. Berkley Corp. executive to be its new head of Structured Risk for its North America P&C arm. JLT Specialty USA appointed a new senior vice president who will focus on real estate.

PartnerRe appointed Jonathan Schriber as head of Structured Risk, North America P&C.

John Schriber

Schriber has specialized in structured risk products for much of his 24-year reinsurance career. Previously, he was chief underwriting officer, Global Reinsurance at W.R. Berkley Corp., where he was involved in underwriting strategy, aggregate management and new product development.

He joined Berkley Re America in July 2007 to manage the North American brokered treaty unit, where he developed new lines of business including structured risk. While there, Schriber also successfully opened a Canadian branch.

At his new job, Schriber will work out of PartnerRe’s Stamford office as part of the North America P&C business unit. He’ll report to Dick Sanford, head of North America P&C and president of PartnerRe U.S.

JLT Specialty USA, a U.S. subsidiary of Jardine Lloyd Thompson Group plc. (JLT), named Josh Forbes as a senior vice president.

Forbes will be tasked with helping the division deliver specialized products for real estate clients.

Forbes is based in New York and brings to JLT over a decade of insurance industry experience. Previously, Forbes was with Marsh & McLennan Cos., where he served as the New York metro placement team leader within their property department. During this time, he was responsible for developing complex risk products for primarily REITs and financial institutions. He started his insurance career at Integro Insurance Brokers where he served as property broker.

Sarah Sherman, executive vice president and property practice leader at JLT Specialty USA, said in prepared remarks that Forbes’ leadership “will be instrumental in growing our property practice on the East Coast.”
