Starr Companies hired a former AIG executive to become part of its Political Risk group.

John Hegeman was previously senior vice president and global head of political risk insurance for American International Group’s property/casualty arm, and managed teams there for more than 25 years in North America, the U.K. and Asia.

Hegeman joins Starr as it continues to expand its coverage options and services for global political risk exposures. Starr said its political risk team includes a number of “seasoned experts” with political risk underwriting experience.

Miles Osorio

Hamilton Underwriting Ltd., the Lloyd’s operations of Hamilton Insurance Group, brought on Miles Osorio as its new head of property D&F.

Osorio will report to Active Underwriter Trevor Carvey. He’ll focus on developing a book of direct and facultative global property business.

Osorio comes to Hamilton Underwriting – which is also the managing agency of Lloyd’s Syndicate 3334 – from Hardy Syndicate 382. During his time there, Osorio was senior underwriter D&F and was responsible for the direct and reinsurance portfolio. Osorio, who has 25 years experience as an underwriter and broker, also has previous experience from Montpelier Syndicate 5151. As well, he was a broker at companies including Bowring Marsh and Willis Corroon.

QBE North America promoted Steven Allen to senior vice QBE-Insurancepresident, General Aviation.

In his new role, Allen will be responsible for continued development and launch of QBE North America’s aviation go-to-market strategy, among other responsibilities.

Allen has been with QBE since 2015, when he joined as vice president, Aviation Claims, a position through which he oversaw all aviation claims and litigation. As well, he had been serving as interim senior vice president, General Aviation, since January.

Allen has more than 20 years of insurance, legal and management experience in aviation insurance. Before QBE, he was vice president, complex litigation and airlines manager, at AIG Aerospace.

GreatAmerican logoMellissa Carbone-Moser joined Great American Insurance Group’s aviation division as a divisional vice president.

Carbone-Moser will be tasked with supervising and managing all aviation-related claims and litigation.

Moser, an aviation claims attorney by training, comes to the insurer with a decade of aviation claims experience. Great American said she has pervious experience working for a large aviation insurance carrier and also worked for several years in private practice “handling complex medical malpractice lawsuits.”
