The Navigators Group Inc., an international specialty insurance holding company, is pursuing a European expansion.

Its European underwriting management subsidiary, Navigators Underwriting Ltd., has opened offices in Paris, France; Milan, Italy; and Rotterdam, The Netherlands. Plans are to use those offices to service brokers and businesses in the respective markets to underwrite marine, management liability and professional liability insurance, the company said.

Navigators has actually underwritten specialty insurance from London since 1998. Since then, it has built up regional operations to access business that isn’t typically placed in London. Beyond the new offices, the company noted it also underwrites business from offices in Antwerp, Belgium; Copenhagen, Denmark; and Stockholm, Sweden.

The Navigators Group has insurance company operations, underwriting management companies and operations at Lloyd’s. Beyond the U.K. and Europe, it has offices in the United States, China and Brazil.
